About Us
We are a 20-piece Big Band ensemble, affiliated with the Eden Prairie Community Band. Many of our members play in both bands. We perform about 20 concerts per year throughout the twin cities with genres including the golden era of swing, the big band era of the 50's, rock, and much more.
Our purpose is to entertain the people of Eden Prairie and surrounding communities, while providing the traditional jazz band experience for adult musicians to play together for their mutual enjoyment and musical growth.

Minnesota Festival of Jazz on the Prairie
Sunday, June 8th - 12:00-7:00 p.m.
Every year in early June, the Jazz on the Prairie Big Band plays host to some of the best jazz big bands in the greater twin cities area. 2024 marks the 34th annual event featuring 7 local jazz big bands! We consider it to be the informal kickoff of the summer season of jazz performances that take place all around the Twin Cities, including the Twin Cities Summer Jazz Fest that takes place in St Paul later in June.
Our jazz festival takes place at Staring Lake Park in Eden Prairie and the Amphitheatre is one of the most picturesque venues around with a beautiful view of the lake to enjoy while listening to a full afternoon of big band jazz.
For the past few years the MN Festival of Jazz on the Prairie has also included a "Ribfest" which is a fundraiser for the Eden Prairie Noon Rotary. The profits from the event support the Rotary's local and international service projects. While there's a cost for the ribs and beer, all of the music is presented absolutely free!

Join Our Band
Our members are non-professional musicians. Granted a few of them play pretty darn well, but this is an extra-curricular activity for them, providing the fun and enjoyment that comes from performing as a musician. We do not get paid -- we do this solely because we love playing jazz and love entertaining the crowd with the best music we can. You really can't beat this combination.
Our rehearsals are Thursdays from 9:00-10:30 p.m. in the Eden Prairie Schools Valley View Campus located at 11840 Valley View Rd, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. The band is open to adult musicians from Eden Prairie and surrounding communities.
